Academic Achievements

St. Pius X is dedicated to the goal of academic excellence for all students.

St. Pius X is known for academic excellence. Students excel in classes and have the opportunity to expand their horizons by competing with students from other schools in academic challenges. The experience reinforces classroom learning and adds to the total educational experience.

  • For the first year, St. Pius X students competed in the National Ocean Sciences Bowl (NOSB) at the University of Colorado in Boulder in February. Students,  Andrea Garcia, Alysia Hernandez, Doreen Chavez, Sha Lager won 5 out of 7 rounds and tied for second place. Unfortunately, when a tie happens, judges look at the total points earned for the day, so the team didn't get to compete in the final round. Teacher Deborah Green said that University professors and representatives from NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association) who were facilitating the competition made it a point to congratulate us for doing so well as a first year team.See story in the Albuquerque Journal.
